We took a deep dive into online tux rental sites so you don’t have to.

When it comes to splurge vs. save in the wedding world, a tux is one of those items that could go in either bucket. Unless you are going to a black tie event 4-5 times a year, it’s hard to justify such an expense when you can rent for 10-25% of the cost of 1 tux purchase.

Let’s be honest…

When you think of a tux rental, you probably are picturing a dated, off-putting and ill-fitting ensemble and that does not work with your wedding vision board.

Lucky for you, tux rentals have really come a long way since ‘I Love You Man’ and with a few tips and tricks, your beloved groom can procure the tux of your dreams (truly, it’s about you) in just 30 minutes or less.

Who: The Black Tux

How: Check out their super helpful video on how to order and then partake in a straight-forward, user friendly rental process/questionnaire. You’ll first choose your tux or suit and then build upon the basics with any accessories (shirt, vest, shoes even a bowtie). Then add all your event details and enter your measurements or if you don’t know what your size is, use their guide. Give yourself about 20 minutes to set-up an account and input the necessary information, not-to-mention the expansive offering selection you will get lost in.

Fine print: Once you are done with your tux, you have 3 days to return your rental with prepaid postage.

Price: $95 and up + free standard shipping

Who: Generation Tux

How: If you are someone who is searching for the perfect black tux AND don’t trust your groomsmen to actually order their tuxedos, this is the site for you. Customer reviews rave about the quality of these sharp, classic black tuxedos (although there are other colors available) along with the ability to match custom wedding colors (think bridesmaid dresses to match the groomsmen’s ties). First, set-up your event on the site and walk through the simple measurement requirements. Then, you can add-in the names and emails of everyone who needs a tux rental. It will even show you the status of their order or lack of status if you have some gentlemen ignoring the many emails requesting them to put in their measurements.

Fine print: You get not only 1, but 2 free tux try-ons. If 5 others in your bridal party order from the site, the groom’s inseam is free. Post event, you have 3 days to return your rental with prepaid postage.

Price: $69 and up + free shipping

Who: Men’s Warehouse

How: Men’s Warehouse is a brand that has been around for some time and has been the go-to for many a prom, wedding or special event suit rental. Their tuxedo selection is varied and great for the wedding that has a variety of sizes and specifications. In their online portal, choose a pre-styled outfit, or build your own tux/suit ensemble. Enter in your date and measurement info from there. They have a generous inventory and provide an option to try-on at one of their many brick-and-mortar locations. If 5 or more of your groomsmen rent suit or tuxedo packages, your groom receives a $400 shopping credit toward the balance of your outfit.

Fine Print: If you need to suit-up your ring bearers or pint-sized bridal party members, this is a great option. For those destination weddings, be careful, you only have one day to return your rental, either by a prepaid shipping label or any store location.

Price: $99.99 and up

Who: Menguin

How: For the modern, clean lines and simple look, Menguin is the site for you. First, you will pick from 20 styles of tuxedos and suits, from there, you can add-on a few accessories, input your measurements (this site has the least sophisticated/detailed measurement requirements) and approximately 15 minutes later, you have your tux or suit rental ready to arrive in time for your big day. Just like some of our favorites on this list, you can stalk (ahem, check on) whomever else you invite to rent from Menguin.

If you do have a bit of time to spare, check out their fabric swatch option where they will send you swatches for accessories (ties, handkerchiefs) that will match your color theme.
